Shoreline West Trip Blog 2022

While flat tires occur while cycling, this is another twist on the tale. While driving back from PA yesterday, our car suffered a flat. Today was supposed to be my final long bike ride before the adventure. However, we needed to put on the temporary spare, spend the night in a hotel last night, and hopefully get a replacement tire today. And, hopefully I will get another long ride in before the trip, but if not, “thems the breaks.”

Aug 6 - Check in Montague, MI Aug 7 - Montague to Ludington - 60 miles Aug 8 - Ludington to Frankfort - 64 miles Aug 9 - Frankfort to Traverse City - 62 miles Aug 10 - Layover in Traverse City Aug 11 - Traverse City to Boyne City - 70 miles Aug 12 - Boyne City to Harbor Springs - 46 miles Aug 13 - Harbor Springs to Mackinaw City - 44 miles

In August 2022, my great high school friend, Ron P., and I will be embarking on a 350 mile cycling journey along the western shoreline of Michigan from Montague to Mackinaw City.  Much of the ride will be adjacent to Lake Michigan. Ron and I graduated from Muncy (PA) High School (MHS) in 1981. We formed a DJ business in high school called Fantasy Sound Systems (FSS) along with another great friend.  We DJ'ed many dances at our high school and other schools.  41 years later, Ron & I formed the MHS FSS Cycling Club .
